20 Year Anniversary Fly-in / 20May2012 / 3:00PM EDT

Post by Dave Blake »

SunAir Express’s 20 Year Anniversary Fly-in

Tampa International Airport - KTPA
Sunday - May 20, 2012
Arrival Time: 3:00 PM EDT (19:00 UTC)

Help celebrate Jim Swanson's dream and SunAir Express Virtual Airline's 20th year of continuous operations.

Fly any aircraft you wish to KTPA from any location you wish. You may also choose one of the scheduled SAX flights if you wish to log the flight.

Use the SAX FSHost server to fly with other SAX pilots on-line or fly by yourself off-line.

Be sure to follow the FSHost setup instruction. You must setup your router properly or you may block other pilots from connecting to the server.

SAX FSHost Setup Help: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=268

I recommend that you test your FSHost connection with another pilot before the event. Dave Vega or I would be happy to test with you. Just post a request and we will setup a test session.

Use the SAX TeamSpeak company voice server for communications between other SAX pilots. Let me know if you need help setting that up or testing.

Send your screen shots to me after the fly-in and I will add them to the SAX photo web page.

Hope to see you at Tampa on May 20th.

I see no activity, comments, etc. on this here nor elsewhere. Does this mean nobody is showing up? Do we need to poll this one too?

I'm planning FLT 1037 - KORD to KTPA. Push back will be around 11:30 CDT (12:30 EDT).

I will be using the SAX TeamSpeak Voice server and SAX FSHost server.

Hope to "see ya" in Tampa around 3:00 PM EDT.

I know, no texting while flying, but since this a once in a lifetime event I couldn't help it. Captains perogative  Anyway, I see that three of us are at least airborne and heading to KTPA. Heck of a tailwind may cause me to be about 20 minutes early. Might have to do a flyby before landing 8) My internet connection doesn't allow me to have the most fun I could be having with FShost and TeamSpeak but it's the thought that counts. Thanks Jim for an awsesome dream!

Yes! Cheated death again :D Awsesome weather, great flight. I didn't do a fly-by so I just extended my downwind a little more than usual which worked out really good for me. Plus I slowed her down WAY OUT before even getting to the pattern. Thanks everyone!

It was fun, but I am very disappointed other pilots did not join.

Thank you Dave, Lyle.

I see Shawn Hackler made it to TPA also.

Thanks everyone for helping to keep SAX going for 20 years. Jim Swanson would be proud of us!

It was fun flying as a group again. If anyone would like to try it again maybe next month let us know.

I was all setup to try and join you guys on Sunday morning, but I got called away. I had to pause and finish the flight that evening. I am really bummed I missed it, but glad that some joined. Grrr....
I am going to post a few screenshots in the next day or two from the fly-in.

So sorry I missed flying to TPA that day. My father-in-law took ill around then and today's the first day since that I've had the time and desire to fly.

Welcome back Neil. Would you, or anyone else, be interested in another group flight? If so, what would be a good day of the week / time of the day for it? We have been using Sundays in the early afternoon, US Central Time, for convenience to all our pilots, but I wonder if a different day, time of the week may result in more participation.

Sunday group flights are usually best for me, but I rarely participate anyway. Just for special events mainly, and as you know I don't do the VATSIM or squawkbox thing. I just fly and if someone else notices all the better.
