FSX Default Boeing 737-800 in SAX Livery

Do you know something about FSX, or an aircraft, panel, scenery or an add-on for it? Post information and links about them here.

FSX Default Boeing 737-800 in SAX Livery

Post by SAX775 »

For those who have been following and who use FSX on a regular basis (all two or three of us) I have been repainting the Default 737-800 in SAX Colors. Here is my latest v0.3 of this effort after a short flight from Atlanta to Buffalo.

I am happy with most of the scheme with the exception of the nose which continues to be problematic. I will continue to touch up that area until I am happy with it.

Looks good Ken. I'm sure you like it's virtual cockpit, which the B737-700 we offer for FSX doesn't have. I'm amazed there's no commercial B737-700 yet for FSX. Unfortunately the only B737-800s we have are the ones we use on Jim, and those are really BBJ2s. Would you like to paint the default FSX 737-800 in Jim colors? We could then make the appropriate modifications to the fuel tanks to have a "pretend" BBJ2.

David,

I choose the 737-800 as the 737-700 is not available in FSX and I don't think a good one is going to be available until PMDG finishes its NGX product. If history is any example they will build the 737-600 and 737-700 first then add-on the 737-800 and 737-900 later on. That would leave the FSX users with only a payware option for the 737-700.

FSACARS doesn't seem to mind if I fly a route with a B737/Q or a B738/Q, but from a purest standpoint I can understand your concern. Since the BBJ2 would require a complete restart from the ground up on the paint scheme including matching the diagonal stripes on the tail to the fuselage (a difficult task with the default texture layout that Microsoft used) I am really not interested in adapting the FSX default B737-800 into a Jim BBJ2. Considering the limited number of Jim flights that are available (6) I would also question the value of the work put into the process versus the utility of the final product.
