Microsoft's System Requirements for FSX

Do you know something about FSX, or an aircraft, panel, scenery or an add-on for it? Post information and links about them here.

Microsoft's System Requirements for FSX

Post by Dave Blake »

This is from the Microsoft Help and Support web page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927286

Computer games push the limits of the computer's processing capabilities. Flight Simulator X is no different. A 3-D graphics card is required to run Flight Simulator X. The other minimum system requirements are listed in the following table. Make sure that the computer meets the minimum system requirements. You may want to upgrade the computer for better performance.

Minimum
CPU: 1.0GHz
Memory: 256 MB
Video Card: 32 MB
Internet: 56.6 modem

Recommended
CPU: 2.8 GHz
Memory: 1 gigabytes
Video Card: 64 MB
Internet: Broadband

Best
CPU: 3.6 GHz
Memory: 2 GB
Video Card: 512 MB
Internet: Broadband

What Microsoft didn't say is that FSX is writen to use 64 bit processor technology. And you will have to wait until the Vista OS is released along with DirectX 10 before FSX will be able to benefit from this 64 bit preformance. Until then your FSX preformance will probably not be as good as you would like to see.

You may also want to wait for the DirectX 10 video boards to come out before jumping on the FSX bandwagon.

If you want to test your system to see if it is ready for Windows Vista go here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ and click on the GET READY button then install the "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor RC". (You can uninstall it after the test)

Oh yea, there will only be 4 version of Vista to choose from this time:
