Aircraft Parts! Where?

Do you know something about FS9, or an aircraft, panel, scenery or an add-on for it? Post information and links about them here.

Aircraft Parts! Where?

Post by David Vega »

Remember when we had those aircraft packages that combined the airplane, the panel, and the sounds, each from a different developer? It was nice, but we couldn't keep adding them to our library, because space is limited (the sound files alone took many MBs).

Now all our library aircraft come with default panel and sounds. But this doesn't mean you can't browse the net and find the right panel and sound set to make your trips more enjoyable. But where?

Let's start by stating what type of aircraft we actually have in our virtual inventory: B737-200, B737-400, B737-700, B767-300ER, B747-200, B747-400, A320, MD83, CRJ2, B190D. Very few real airlines exist flying so many different aircraft types. But we're not in virtual Chapter 11, so we are ok. :)

So, I'll begin this with the Boeing 737-700. For a good panel for the 737-700, 800, 900 suggest checking the one here: http://www.pspanels.co.uk/ . It just came out, and though it's not free, it's very inexpensive. It has some very nice features too. For a more a bit more, check out the 737NG panel here: http://www.sky-decks.com/sd-html_009.htm .

You can complement our existing 737-700 with sounds from file cfm56-7.zip in http://www.flightsim.com . Sounds for V speeds and such can be found here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=57971 .

How about the rest? Have you found a panel/sound set that you would like to share? Please post.

One thing I forgot to mention on the 737-700. For those of you that like the challenge of an ultrarealistic panel, and don't mind paying for it more than what you paid for the simulator itself, there's the Precision Manuals Design Group 737 Next Generation (The NG designation is given to the 737-600, 700, 800, and 900). You can find them at http://www.precisionmanuals.com .

Please keep in mind that SunAir Express is not endorsing any of these commercial products, nor do you have to go buy them. This is only for your information.

B767-300ER

Post by David Vega »

subLOGIC ATP includes a B767-200, specifically the model for the fictitious subLOGIC airline was a B767-250. For FS9, we're using the B767-300ER with P&W4060 engines.

You can find a good sound set at http://www.avsim.com . Check for file: final_pw_767_soundset.zip .

How about a voice set? Check out http://www.flightsim.com and search for files
capthal1.zip and capthal2.zip .

For a panel, there are several choices. Suggest starting with the one made by Chris Jeanne. You can find it at http://www.flydelsol.com/forum/delSol_s ... =downloads

If you want the ultimate in B767-300ER simulation, check out the Level-D 767 at http://www.leveldsim.com/sevensix_home.asp . This is payware. If you like to get on the airplane, hit CTRL+E to start the engines, and go, then this simulation is not for you. Expect a steep learning curve.

I hear Voices

Post by David Vega »

For those of you who would like to not only hear voices in your flight decks but to have a virtual copilot that responds to your commands, suggest checking Flight Assistant.

From the product description: Flight Assistant is a program that provides a virtual co-pilot for flight simulation enthusiasts. You can give commands using a microphone which the co-pilot executes then. For example, one could give the command "flaps up", and then the flaps will be raised automatically. Furthermore, the co-pilot responds to your commands, so that you receive a confirmation. The program is nearly fully configurable. You are able to create new commands and even to edit the existing ones. An optional "Speak" key lets the PC only recognize commands when you press and hold down a certain key. Flight Assistant should work together with every(!) flight simulation without any problems.

I haven't tested this product, but others have and I haven't read anything negative.

You can find it here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=39661
