Re: Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for SAX Flights?
I'm still using Windows XP with FS9 due to my PC limitations. Working with a P4, 2 gig system with an old GeForce video card.
I have Windows 7 pro 32/64 bit and FSX Gold Edition in boxes as soon as I order and build my i7 machine.
Add-ons include:
Ultimate Traffic
iFly 737-900
Flight Environment
Mega-scenery New York
Mega-scenery San Franscisco
AES
AES compatible airports: Tampa Int'l (KTPA), LaGuardia (KLGA), Ronald Reagan Int'l (KDCA), O'Hare Int'l (KORD, St. Louis-Lambert (KSTL), San Francisco Int'l (KSFO), St. Maarten (TNCM) and the default Nuernberg (EDDN).
Microsoft Force Feedback joystick.
Until I get my new system, XP and FS9 will be my main game.

I was quite happy with FS9 but eventually moved on to FSX because all the new aircraft only support FSX.

I wish I had the computer power to fly FSX. I have put it on my machine, but the frame rate is so poor, I have deleted it. My computer is about 5 years old, but have been able to load Windows 7 (32 bit) and FS9 works quite well. I was able to improve frame rate using Windows 7.

Peter the 64bit makes the difference. Memory issues. Did you check the flightsim forums for tips? There are some good ones out there on settings etc. I don't get awesome frame rates but they are acceptable.

Unfortunately, my computer architecture won't allow 64-bit. I tried but could only set up 32-bit.
