Now Flying to Johannesburg, South Africa
Fellow Pilots, We are now offering B777 service from Atlanta to Johannesburg. This replaces previous B747 service from Atlanta to Cape Town. So what does this mean for our long hauler pilots? Longer flights. :o The flights retain the previous flight numbers but now use a B777 (the B747 doesn't have ...

How Many Mistakes Can You Spot?
Here's the official video from the NTSB on Asiana 214, the B777 that crashed not long ago in San Francisco, CA. How many mistakes can you spot?

Re: Is Boeing 767 Running out of Time?
Rich, We have been quietly transitioning some of the flights from B767 or B777 to B738s, not because we're phasing out either of them, but to keep a little of realism going. For example, some of our hubs with B777 flights do not have the ramp space for that many heavies in real life. Also, real-worl...

Re: IFR Question
Assuming the destination airport was above minimums when you departed and it went below minimums afterwards, I'm think the thing to do was to divert, but, like you, I'm a fair weather pilot. I will defer to Marty Becker or Xavier Hutin for the IFR answer. Either way, sounds like it was a good tense ...

Thank you Dave and Marty. I think three is the minimum number of flights with the current schedule to make the round-the-world trip.

Thanks Marty. It would be nice to visit that airport in real life. I was looking at the map and it's farther north than Barrow, AK.

From the Top of the World
Finally made it to the northernmost airport in the world with public scheduled flights, Svalbard airport (ENSB) in Svalbard, Norway. I haven't been concerned about an approach in a while, but this one broke the streak. Ensure you study the approach before you depart. Here's a pic from the tarmac: @s...

Re: Why Can't I find the Airport Listed in the Flight Plan?
Found another one! KYUM, Yuma Airport in Arizona, changed its ICAO in 2008 from KYUM to KNYL. Flights 9022 and 9023 would be affected. A great freeware scenery for FSX just came out with the updated ICAO code. It is by Shehryar Ansari / Brian Kircher, file name: nyl2014x.zip. You can find it in avsi...

Why Can't I find the Airport Listed in the Flight Plan?
Fellow Captains, From time to time we see a pilot not finding a departure or destination airport ICAO code from one of our flights. This is because either the airport ICAO code has been updated in the real world since FSX was published, a newer airport was built and the old one closed, or some other...

FSX Default B737-800 Consumes Too Much Fuel!
We have learned that the FSX default B737-800 consumes too much fuel. In order to fix this, a change in the Aircraft.cfg file is necessary. Aircraft.cfg will be located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes folder. If you have installed FSX e...

... and more changes still. We added 40 new flights in and out of Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport to some of our major destinations in the US. This has nothing to do with the release of FS Dream Team's Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport for FSX-P3D (KIAH). If you decide...

Re: Go Around!
Good post. I do prepare for the possibility of a GA when briefing the approach. I use Radar Contact for ATC, and though better than default ATC, there are times when an AI jet sneaks in or do not vacate the active as fast as they should. In those instances, ATC tells me to go around. Once I decided ...

Flight Schedule Changes
For those of you that never read the announcements out of the SAX main web page, but read the forums, we've made some significant schedule changes over the last few days. The entire flight schedule for SAX Europa was streamlined to remove extra flights that were not consistent with how we fly our US...

The FSX files should be up soon. They will be off the SAX Files library. The SAX Europa and the Jim files will be available later.

Glad it worked for you. Feel free to ask any question. I'm sure a forum member will have an answer to a clue to an answer.
BTW, did you the we converted a couple of B737-800s to freighters to be used in the Alaska cargo routes?
Happy flying.

Re: Fuel Oddities
Shawn,
In ISG.CFG there's a parameter
LoadFuelonFlightPlanLoad=1
Would setting that to 0 solve the problem?
