Re: WARNING!!! Suspect Flights in our Schedule

Regarding the new SFO DH8D flights, I've seen some wide ranging differences between the scheduled block time and actual block. In one or two instances I can reasonably attribute the discrepancy to unrealistic procedures I executed during arrival (9097 into LAX being one of them), however, it seems m...

The Most Difficult Route

I am finding that the most difficult city pair we fly is Juneau to Petersburg (PAJN-PAPG) up in Alaska. Juneau is boxed in to the North, South, and East, so a departure from runway 8 requires a climbing right turn greater than 180 degrees to Coghlan Island NDB, then outbound to BARLO, and then 140 h...

Saitek FIP

I finally caved and added a Saitek FIP to my home setup. And while not the most expansive upgrade, it has certainly added some key functionality. It is now possible for me to make approaches with nothing but terrain on my monitor. Many of the keyboard assignments I had mapped to a Tartarus pad next ...

What's the trajectory for releasing these routes (days? weeks? months?)?
Do you need help testing anything?

The Ever-Flexible FSX

I recently purchased the Razer Tartarus to try with FSX and love it so far. It has 15 fully programmable keys that can store single keystrokes (Q or W), do multiple keys (shift+S), or store a series of key strokes into macros. I use it for things like altimeter settings and engine start/shutdown, as...

Re: Cargo Routes

Thanks, Dave. I am wrapping up the 767 in my TPA adventure, then have the 777 & 747 to do. Then I think I am going to leave the sun behind and do cargo routes in Alaska for a while. I appreciate the info. I found a DHL cargo 700. The base is opensky, so I will mess around with it.

Cargo Routes

Is there a way to look up cargo routes specifically? Also, do we still use 737-700c for cargo routes? If so, anyone know of a good fsx model? Many thanks and happy flying!

Re: FMC Panel Retrofit

I also like this retrofit because I can still use my Saitek panels, though I am sure you can build out use with payware with FSUIPC, but that's a lot to learn :)

Re: FMC Panel Retrofit

There is no getting around the feel of payware, but if you don't mind freeware and don't have the dollars for better processing, then this adds a nice touch. I also use Accufeel for some sound and turbulence enhancements. I was running quad core with Windows on core 1 and flight simulator on cores 2...

Re: FMC Panel Retrofit

I have tried tweaking the daylights out of FSX and my computer with little success on that specific issue, though I have since migrated to Windows 7 from Vista since I last used PMDG or Level-D, so it may be worth another shot. I am fairly happy with where I'm at, however, but would be curious if it...

FMC Panel Retrofit

There is a great retrofit panel product out there which adds a huge amount of functionality to default and freeware aircraft (link below). The biggest value for me is the inclusion of a flight management computer. I loved uising the PMDG and Level-D products mostly becuase I could alter my flight pl...

A380 at SFO???

Hi, all. I may have suggested something similar before, but what is the possibility of getting an A380 route out of SFO. Maybe to Paris or the middle-east? What is the process for evaluating new routes/aircrafts? With its capacity-both pax and cargo-and range, this may be a fun, if profitable additi...

I was all setup to try and join you guys on Sunday morning, but I got called away. I had to pause and finish the flight that evening. I am really bummed I missed it, but glad that some joined. Grrr....
I am going to post a few screenshots in the next day or two from the fly-in.

Re: Ferry: CRJ2 from San Francisco to Japan

I agree. These flights are most exciting. I too am curious about your weather. I had low ceilings and rain or snow the whole time with high winds, making the ndb approaches all the more exciting and precarious. I am heading back to Tampa now and will hang tight until I get marching orders to Atlanta.

Re: Ferry: CRJ2 from San Francisco to Japan

These flights are GREAT! A nice getaway from the ins and outs of TPA-though I am growing fond of Florida. I will post a full report of my trip to Japan (I just landed back at SFO with a 747), but I gotta share the FSFK. My rating coming back from Japan? DISASTER!!! Ahhhhhahahaha. I got knocked a few...

Re: Ferry: CRJ2 from San Francisco to Japan

You weren't kidding about the weather. I just started with the sfo to sea and, while I had great views of Mount Rainier and Mount St Helens, I descended into a 500' ceiling and 30 knot gusts. The ILS couldn't hold it, so a fun hand-flown approach was the way to go. Adding half the gust to my air spe...

Logged in after work and all worked as it should. Did a VATSIM flight KMIA to KTPA. AWESOME! What a cool feature. I am a licensed pilot and found this to be great practice and TONS of fun. Thanks for the vid!!! You guys are great! Looking forward to the shared-cockpit this weekend. 8)

Re: Help With Flying On VATSIM

Heeeeeelp! So. Completely. LOST! I signed up for VATSIM and got my credentials. I downloaded Squawkbox, ran FSX, and opened SB from the dropdown in FSX. First, I tried connecting to a server, but there were no servers in the drop down. I found some IP addresses and filled the rest of the form out an...

Re: Problems

I am not setting FSACARS to pause. I am running my flight as normal. FSX will stop working about 2 hours into flight, prompting the FS Crash message from FSACARS. A few minutes later, FSX will recover, but the FSACARS message puts FSX on pause. I am currently doing a KATL-EDDT route with FSX and FSA...

Problems

Well, it seems that FSX, FSACARS, and the Level-D 767 don't get along too well. FS keeps "crashing" only to recover after a bit. FSACARS asks if I want to continue, thus pausing FS. I can resume log, unpause, and go about by flight, only to have it do it again sometime later. FS doesn't cr...

Re: FSACARS Auto Pause Feature and FSX

That was probably me. I have done a re-OS since then (for other reasons) and the FSACARS still stops working after autopause function is used with FSX. I am using FSX with Vista.
